But for a lot of us, rainy season means moisture in the atmosphere which means joint pain. Here are tips to avoid joint and muscle pain during the rainy season.

1. Reduce joint pain and inflammation with this ginger and honey drink: Crush some ginger, boil it in three cups of water until it’s reduced to two cups, and add a teaspoon of honey. Drink it warm twice a day.

2. sea salts in a bath soak -- this is an effective home remedy to relieve muscle soreness. It helps in muscle restoration by supplying the body with the muscle-relaxing mineral magnesium.


3. Avoid foods like curd, sweets, rice, pickle, tomato ketchup, brinjal and sour drinks.


4. Avoid salt in your dinner on particularly painful days.


5. Include foods rich in vitamin C in your diet as it is shown to be effective to prevent muscle soreness. So incorporate chilli peppers, guavas and citrus fruits which are all high in Vitamin C into your diet to up your energy level and avoid muscle soreness.


6. Drink turmeric milk: Add a pinch of turmeric to boiling milk, consume just before bedtime.


7. Warm sesame seed (til) oil and massage the knee joint.


8. Add garlic to your food. Garlic is anti-inflammatory.


9. Add a few drops of peppermint oil to warm til oil and massage.


10. Make sure you stretch regularly as it helps in improving the blood flow and aid in reducing the inflammation. Regular stretching exercises and daily physical activity will keep such discomfort at bay. Stretching twice a day is highly recommended.
